Cortech is developing a product that stimulates athletes' brains, aiding in rapid concussion recovery. The device uses light to stimulate neurons, promoting brain recovery.

Cortech Sports, founded in 2022, is developing a non-invasive device to promote cognitive and brain recovery in athletes. Combining medical and sports technology, Cortech Sports uses transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM) to accelerate post-concussion recovery, helping athletes return to action faster and at the optimal time.

In elite sports, brain recovery is essential for maintaining peak performance and preventing long-term injuries. Concussions and mental fatigue are common issues that can negatively impact an athlete's career. Traditional recovery methods, such as rest and medication, have limitations and can have potential side effects.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a therapeutic technique that uses light of different wavelengths to stimulate biological processes at the cellular level. Studies have shown that PBM can reduce inflammation, improve blood circulation, and promote tissue regeneration, making it a promising solution for brain tissue recovery in athletes.

Problematic

High-performance athletes often experience prolonged recovery times after concussions. The damage can persist throughout their lives and even shorten their lives if not properly managed.

Solution

Cortech Sports has developed a device incorporating infrared LEDs to stimulate the brain with this specific light. This technology, easy to incorporate into a daily treatment routine, can accelerate healing and even promote complete recovery.

Results

With Garage&co's support, Cortech Sports structured its business model, developed a working prototype, and established key partnerships. Results include:

  • Accelerated post-concussion recovery: Clinical trials are planned to demonstrate a reduction in recovery time after concussions, allowing athletes to return to their activities more quickly and safely.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Cortech Sports has successfully established collaborations with renowned research institutes and professional sports teams, strengthening the credibility and effectiveness of their technology.
  • Working prototype and positive feedback: The helmet prototype is complete and will be tested by various athletes and coaches to obtain their feedback on its effectiveness and comfort.

These results will demonstrate the significant impact of photobiomodulation on recovery from concussions, positioning Cortech Sports as a key player in the field of sports medtech.
